About FigureWise

Last updated: June 2026

FigureWise is a free collection of financial calculators and plain-English money guides. Our goal is simple: help you run the numbers on real-world money decisions — a mortgage, a car loan, paying off a credit card, saving for retirement — quickly, accurately, and without having to hand over your email address or wade through jargon.

Why we built this

Most people face big financial decisions with very little clarity about the actual numbers. How much will this loan really cost over its lifetime? How much do I need to save each month to hit my goal? What does compound interest do to my money over twenty years? The math behind these questions isn't complicated, but doing it by hand is tedious and easy to get wrong. We built FigureWise so anyone can get a clear, reliable answer in seconds — and then understand what that answer means.

What makes our calculators different

  • Accurate, standard formulas. Our calculators use the same established financial formulas that banks and lenders use, so the results line up with what you'll see in the real world.
  • Genuinely free. No sign-up, no paywall, no “enter your email to see results.” Just open a calculator and use it.
  • Explained, not just computed. Every calculator comes with a clear explanation of how it works, the formula behind it, a worked example, and answers to common questions — so you don't just get a number, you understand it.

What we cover

Our tools and guides fall into three areas: Loans & Mortgage (mortgage payments, auto loans, personal loans, credit-card payoff), Savings & Investing (compound interest, retirement, savings goals, return on investment), and Everyday Math (percentages, tips, and other quick calculations). We add new calculators and guides regularly.

An important note

FigureWise is an independent educational resource. Our calculators and articles are for general information only and are not financial advice. We're not a bank, lender, or licensed financial advisor, and results are estimates to help you think things through — not a recommendation. For decisions about your specific situation, please speak with a qualified professional. See our disclaimer for details.
